Blackpool pair Ollie Norburn and Jordan Rhodes are both ‘expected’ to leave permanently this summer, as detailed in a report by the Blackpool Gazette.

Blackpool are set to cut ties with the duo when their deals expire at the end of the season. They were shipped out on loan in the January transfer window.

Norburn, 32, was given the green light to link up with fellow League One side Wigan Athletic earlier this winter on a temporary basis. Meanwhile, Rhodes, 35, was loaned to Mansfield Town.

In this latest update regarding the pair, the Blackpool Gazette report they are set to head out the exit door for good when this campaign ends. That means that both have likely played their last game for the Seasiders already.

Steve Bruce’s men are sat in 10th place in the table with eight fixtures left to play. They are seven points off the play-offs.

Blackpool expected to cut ties with Ollie Norburn and Jordan Rhodes

Blackpool signed Norburn in 2023 following their relegation from the Championship and he played 13 games for them during the first-half of this season.

After signing for the Seasiders, he told their website at the time: “There’s been previous interest from the Club and Head Coach before, so I’m absolutely delighted to be here.

Blackpool is somewhere I wanted to come before the Club showed their desire to bring me here, so it’s been a massive pull overall. I’m a northern lad as well, so it all seems to fit well.”

He played 39 matches during his first year with the Tangerines but has seen his game time dry up over recent times.

The ex-Grenada international has had spells in the past at Leicester CityBristol RoversPlymouth ArgyleTranmere RoversShrewsbury Town and Peterborough United.

As for Rhodes, Blackpool signed him last summer after he spent time on loan from Huddersfield Town.

He scored 15 goals for them last term but hasn’t been able to reach the same heights this time around, hence why he was sent to Mansfield Town.

Rhodes made 14 caps for Scotland earlier in his career and he is a vastly experienced operator in the Football League.

He has had stints previously at Ipswich TownBlackburn RoversMiddlesbroughSheffield Wednesday and Norwich City.

What now for Blackpool?

Cutting ties with Norburn and Rhodes full-time would help free up funds for Blackpool.

They remain in with an outside shot of getting into the top six but have a lot of work to do to close the gap.
