'Can't see it' – Birmingham City vs Exeter City prediction: The72

Birmingham City host Exeter City in their upcoming League One clash at St Andrew’s this weekend.
Birmingham City are top of the League One table above Wycombe Wanderers and Wrexham as they eye an immediate return to the Championship. BCFC were relegated from the second tier last year along with Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town.
The Blues have the chance to sign some more players this month with the January transfer window open for business. They also have the opportunity to let some more individuals head out the exit door following Dion Sanderson’s exit to Blackburn Rovers.
They won 2-1 at home to Lincoln City in the third round of the FA Cup last Saturday. Ayumu Yokoyama and Lyndon Dykes got their goals against the Imps.
As for Exeter City, they are positioned in 15th place. They are 10 points off the play-offs and 11 above the drop zone.
They saw off Oxford United 3-1 in the FA Cup in their last outing. Demetri Mitchell scored twice against the U’s, whilst Vincent Harper also managed to get himself on the scoresheet.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
Harry Mail
“Birmingham City will be too strong for Exeter City if they show up. The Blues have quality all over the pitch and have the depth in their squad to freshen up their side.
“Chris Davies’ side are the strongest team in the league and will want to keep their momentum going here with another win.
“The Grecians will be in confident mood after beating Championship side Oxford United in the FA Cup last time out.
“However, getting a result against BCFC is a tall order and they would need a near perfect performance to get one. I can’t see it.”
Prediction: Birmingham City 2-0 Exeter City
James Ray
“Exeter City are a resolute side and have some talented players. They’ve more than proven their worth in League One under Gary Caldwell once again and they’re a side not to be overlooked.
“However, Birmingham City should have far too much for the Grecians.
“To be honest, BCFC should have far too much for just about every League One side. They’re in good form and boast a level of quality never seen before at this level. They’ll be expected to win again here, and I’ll back them to do so.”
Prediction: Birmingham City 3-1 Exeter City
