Birmingham City’s George Hall has the chance to get his ‘career back on track’ with loan side Walsall, according to the Express & Star reporter George Bennett.
Birmingham City gave the midfielder the green light to head out the exit door on a temporary basis this past summer when Walsall came calling.
Hall, 20, is due to spend the whole season with the League Two side as they look to gain promotion.
He scored for the Saddlers in their 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town last time out in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday night.
Journalist Bennett was impressed and has written in the Express & Star: “Hall consolidated his second assist of the season from the bench on Saturday with his first start since September and seized his opportunity with a dazzling display. He showed flashes of his quality in the first half but really came to life after the break as Walsall blew Shrewsbury away.”
He added: “The Birmingham City loanee has had a torrid time with injuries over the past 15 months but Walsall could be the place where he gets his career back on track and he could very well be a key player in the second half of the season.”
Birmingham City loanee hailed
Hall was loaned to Walsall to play every week to boost his development.
He has been on the books at Birmingham City for his whole career to date.
The youngster has risen up through the Blues’ academy and was a regular for them at various different youth levels.
Hall penned his first professional deal at St Andrew’s back in 2021 and made his debut in January 2022 in a Championship clash against QPR.
He has since gone on to play 41 games for the Blues altogether and has scored two goals.
The prospect has made six appearances in all competitions for Walsall so far in this campaign, four of which have come in the league.
What now?
Hall will have benefitted from his outing against Shrewsbury Town and will want to become a regular in the Saddlers’ team.
They are sat in 2nd place in the table behind Port Vale.
As for his parent club Birmingham City, they are 2nd in League One as they look to return to the second tier at the first time of asking.
The Blues face Shrewsbury Town away in their last game after the break.
