Mansfield Town loan man Caylan Vickers is being tracked by Championship clubs ahead of the summer, according to Pete O’Rourke.

Mansfield Town signed young attacker Caylan Vickers in the winter transfer window, bringing him in on loan from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 20-year-old had experience of senior football from his breakthrough with Reading but this move marked his first loan. He’s since playing 10 times for the Stags, chipping in with one goal and one assist.

Vickers is a versatile and talented attacker and is backed for a bright future in the game.

Now, it is claimed his performances at Mansfield Town are leading to interest from elsewhere. Ahead of the summer transfer window, Championship clubs are eyeing up Vickers as a potential option.

That is according to reporter Pete O’Rourke, who says on X that his admirers are interested in considering permanent and loan deals. Though none are named, it is said ‘several’ second-tier outfits are on the trial of the Brighton loanee.

The Seagulls’ stance on a potential new move for Vickers remains unknown but he is under contract at the AMEX Stadium for another two years heading into the summer transfer window.

After scoring three goals and providing three assists in 22 first-team outings at Reading, the youngster has registered seven goals and four assists in 24 games for the Brighton U21s. He is yet to make his senior debut there.

Eyes on the summer

Mansfield Town and clubs in the Championship above them still have plenty of football to play before the season’s end up they will all have eyes on their potential summer recruitment plans already.

Some will differ depending on how this season ends, of course, but sit isn’t a surprise to learn that Vickers is on some radars early on.

Until then, the Brighton loanee will be out to end the season on a high with the Stags. Having netted his first goal in the Barnsley win last weekend, Vickers will be eager to find some consistent form in front of goal.
