Birmingham City boss Chris Davies has heaped praise on Luke Harris following their FA Cup win away at Sutton United.

Birmingham City played the Fulham loanee for the first time since late August after his spell on the sidelines with injury. They ended up beating the National League side 1-0 after Willum Þór Willumsson’s first-half goal and will now face fellow League One outfit Blackpool away in the second round at Bloomfield Road.

Harris, 19, will be pleased to have got some minutes under his belt and will be eyeing more game time over the coming weeks and months. He is due to spend the whole season with the Midlands outfit.

Davies was impressed and said afterwards, as per a report by BirminghamLive: “Yeah, I thought he did well. I thought he looked bright. He’s obviously got a lot of energy, makes good runs, is two footed, so he’s always got a sense of goal. He works hard.

“I thought he lasted the game well, he hasn’t played for quite a long time really but got significant minutes. So 60 minutes under his belt that’s only positive for us moving forward.”

Birmingham City landed Harris in the last window to bolster their ranks after they slipped out of the Championship.

He has made seven appearances for them in all competitions since then, five of which have come in the league, and he has chipped in with a single goal.

The teenager has risen up through the academy ranks at Fulham and has been a regular for his parent club at various different youth levels.

Harris penned his first professional deal with the Whites back in 2022 and has featured on eight occasions for their first-team.

The teenager was given the green light to leave Craven Cottage for the first time when Exeter City came calling in January.

He was a hit during his time with the Grecians and fired four goals in 21 games last term to help boost his development.

Harris subsequently returned to Fulham and was then allowed to join Birmingham City to get some more experience.

    What now?

He will be pleased to be back from his spell on the sidelines and will want to break into Davies’ starting XI.

The Wales youth international looked sharp against Sutton United and will hope for more of the same against Northampton Town on Saturday.
