Hull City signed Ryan Longman back in 2021 on an initial loan deal from Brighton and Hove Albion that was later made permanent.
Hull City brought in the versatile winger under former head coach Grant McCann following their League One title win. He went on to become a key player for HCAFC during his first couple of seasons in East Yorkshire.
Longman, 24, made 81 appearances in total for the Tigers during his time on the books at the MKM Stadium and he scored eight goals. He was also loaned out to Millwall in the last campaign after falling out of favour under ex-boss Liam Rosenior and he found the net on three occasions in 37 outings for the Lions before heading back to East Yorkshire last summer.
The Redhill-born man stayed put for the first-half of this term. However, he was sold in the January transfer window to Wrexham.
New challenge at Wrexham
Wrexham were promoted from League Two last year and are currently eyeing promotion to League One.
They managed to persuade Longman to drop down a league from Hull City.
His contract with the Tigers was due to expire in June so they risked losing him for free if they didn’t let him leave earlier this winter.
Longman scored a valuable winner for Ruben Selles’ side away at Blackburn Rovers before he was allowed to depart to the Racecourse Ground.
He has since played 12 matches for the Red Dragons in all competitions under the guidance of former Hull City man Phil Parkinson, 10 of which have come in the league, and he has three assists to his name.
Longman hasn’t scored yet for the Welsh club but has mainly been playing as a right wing-back.
He penned a long-term contract running until 2027 with Wrexham as they look to get promoted to the second tier.
After joining his current club, he told their website: “I’m over the moon and so glad that the deal is over the line.
“I’m really looking forward to being a part of this journey. I came to watch the game last night and the atmosphere was incredible.”
League One promotion latest with Wrexham in the mix
Wrexham are 3rd in the table behind Wycombe Wanderers and Birmingham City and are only off the top two on goal difference.
Parkinson’s men have nine fixtures left to play as they aim to get over the line.
They are inside the play-offs with Stockport County, Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town.
