Millwall are working on a deal to sign Brentford defender Tristan Crama, according to journalist Dan Marsh on X.

Millwall are looking to snap up the centre-back to boost their defensive ranks. They have until the end of the January transfer window to conclude any incoming or outgoing bits of business.

Crama, 23, has spent this season on loan at Exeter City in League One after linking up with them last summer. He has since been a hit with the Grecians under the guidance of Gary Caldwell and has made 25 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with three goals.

In this latest update regarding his situation this month by reporter Marsh on X, the Lions are trying to snap him up. Football Insider claimed earlier this month that Wycombe Wanderers wanted him following Caleb Taylor’s return to West Brom but they now face competition from Alex Neil’s side in the league above.

Millwall could see Crama as someone to add more competition and depth to their squad.

Brentford signed the Frenchman back in 2020 but he is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Premier League side.

Prior to his switch to England, he rose up through the ranks at Béziers and broke into their senior team as a youngster.

He was given the green light to leave the Bees on loan for the first time in 2023 when Bristol Rovers came calling and he played 34 matches for the Gas.

Exeter City then came calling in the last window and he has become an important player for the Grecians.

Crama is under contract at Brentford until 2026. After joining Caldwell’s side in July, he told their website“I enjoyed myself at Bristol, it was my first loan and my first year in English professional football. I enjoyed every game and it was a really good season for me, I learned a lot from this. I’m looking forward to my new loan.”

What now?

Millwall are being linked with a permanent swoop for the player which would mean Wycombe Wanderers would have to look elsewhere for players in his position.

Neil will be looking to put his own stamp on the Lions following his switch earlier this month. He has worked at Norwich City, Preston North End, Sunderland and Stoke City in the past.

Next up for the Scotsman’s side is a home clash against Hull City.
