Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones has said he is ‘convinced’ that they will add to their squad before the end of the window.

Charlton Athletic have had a quiet month on the transfer front. CAFC have until the deadline on Monday 3rd February to get some players through the door.

Nathan Jones’ side won 2-1 away at Bolton Wanderers last time out. Defender Lloyd Jones and midfielder Karoy Anderson got their goals as they secured all three points in the North West.

In this latest update, Jones has said, as per a report by London News Online: “Not before the weekend – it’s very difficult to get them over the line. Every window we do from now on will be slightly more difficult – we’re trying to add more quality than what we have or something different. That’s a little bit more tricky. I’m pretty convinced that we will add before the deadline closes.

“The most important thing is that when we get the right player and get them at a deal that is good for the club – that’s good recruitment. I’m pretty convinced that we will have one, if not two, in the building before the end of the window.”

Charlton Athletic transfer update

Charlton Athletic are being patient with their recruitment and aren’t signing anyone for the sake of it.

As Jones alluded to, they now prioritise quality over quantity and will only do a deal they feel will be beneficial to them.

The Addicks have let Nathan Asiimwe and Terry Taylor head out the exit door recently to Walsall and Northampton Town respectively on loan deals.

They have also sold left wing-back Tayo Edun to Peterborough United on a permanent basis.

Those exits will have helped free up space and funds in their ranks to pave the way for new arrivals.

Charlton Athletic are currently sat in 10th place in the League One table as they eye a position in the play-offs.

They are only four points off the top six now after their victory against Bolton Wanderers and will fancy their chances.

What now for Charlton Athletic?

Time will tell whether the Addicks end up getting anyone in through the entrance door over the next couple of weeks.

Jones seems confident that they will be able to do so.

Charlton Athletic are back in action this weekend with a home clash against Gareth Ainsworth’s Shrewsbury Town.
