Former Birmingham City, Derby County and Stoke City boss Gary Rowett has said he is eyeing a return to management.

Birmingham City cut ties with him at the end of last season after they slipped out of the Championship. He took their last eight games but wasn’t able to keep them up in the end.

Rowett, 50, has since delved into the football media world and has been a pundit on Sky Sports.

He wants to become a head coach again though at some point and has said on the Business of Sport podcast: “Hopefully, at some point, my priority is to get a job as a head coach at a football club. A football club with ambition, a football club that I feel I want to go and help grow and build. I’ve done that at different clubs. I love the media side of it, watching football matches and getting paid to do it. Even if I wasn’t getting paid to do it, I’d be watching football matches. It’s pretty easy.”
