Huddersfield Town host Barnsley at the John Smith’s Stadium this weekend in their latest League One clash.

Huddersfield Town were relegated from the Championship last season along with Birmingham City and Rotherham United after finishing in the bottom three. They are now eyeing an immediate promotion back from the third tier.

The Terriers turned to former Cheltenham Town, Barnsley and Swansea City man Michael Duff as their new boss over the summer. They are currently sat in 15th in the table after a recent slump in form.

The Yorkshire outfit lost 1-0 away at Birmingham City last time out after Alfie May’s goal and will be keen to bounce back.

As for Barnsley, they are 7th and are only outside the play-offs on goal difference behind Lincoln City, Stockport County and Blackpool. They have made the top six in both of the last two campaigns but haven’t been able to get over the line in either, losing to Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough United respectively.

The Tykes drew 2-2 with Wycombe Wanderers at home in their last game. Summer additions Stephen Humphrys and Marc Roberts got their goals.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Harry Mail

Huddersfield Town seem to be struggling for results at the moment. They haven’t won in their last four games and their recent slump is worrying for Duff.

“The Terriers have slipped way down the table and need to return to winning ways sooner rather than later.

“As for Barnsley, they haven’t made a bad start so far this term. They have drawn their last two games though to Stockport County and Wycombe Wanderers though and although it was important that they didn’t lost those two, they would have wanted to win at least one of them.

“This is a tough one to call at the John Smith’s Stadium so I’m going to have to call it a draw.”

Prediction: Huddersfield Town 1-1 Barnsley

Who is the manager of Blackpool?

James Ray

“Questions will be asked of Duff soon if this form doesn’t change. The Huddersfield Town squad is one strong enough to fight it out at the higher end of the table and play at a far higher level.

Barnsley might be a little hot and cold but they are certainly capable of punishing another lacklustre Terriers display if the hosts aren’t on their game.

“I’ll say it’s another day to forget for Town with Barnsley taking all three points.”

Prediction: Huddersfield Town 1-2 Barnsley
