Bolton Wanderers host Reading at the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Saturday in their latest League One outing.

Bolton Wanderers have made a poor start to the new season. They made the play-off final last term and were denied promotion to the Championship after losing in the final to Oxford United at Wembley.

The Trotters’ aim is to go up this term but they are currently sat down in 21st place inside the relegation zone. They were beaten 4-0 at home by Huddersfield Town last time out.

Ian Evatt’s side have won only one of their first five fixtures and need to hit form soon as they look to rise up the table.

As for Reading, off-field problems continue to cloud over the Select Car Leasing Stadium regarding their takeover uncertainty.

They find themselves in 12th position and have seven points on the board so far. Former Southampton man Ruben Selles remains in charge of the Royals and has done a steady job considering what he has had to deal with.

They weren’t able to sign any players over the summer. Leyton Orient beat them 1-0 last time out so they will want to bounce back.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Harry Mail

“Ian Evatt is under serious pressure to start picking up some wins for Bolton Wanderers.

“They haven’t been good enough reason and were taught a lesson by Huddersfield Town last time out. This weekend is an ideal opportunity to bounce back though and return to winning ways.

Reading have been doing well considering what has been going on off the pitch and they have had a lot of distractions this week.

“I still think they will be fired up for the game though by Ruben Selles and I can see them piling more misery on the Trotters. However, I don’t think they’ll win though.

Prediction: Bolton Wanderers 1-1 Reading

James Ray

“Things have to change for Bolton Wanderers, and fast. If this dismal start to the season drags on too long, they’ll be at risk of leaving themselves with too much work to do to get back into the promotion fight.

“Ian Evatt has earned the chance to try and turn things around and against a wounded animal in Reading, it could be a good change to get a vital win on the board.

“However, amid the continued takeover obscurity, Reading have been able to fight through the pain. Ruben Selles’ work has been admirable, and I can see them putting in a competitive, fighting performance here.

“Against a home side seriously lacking in confidence, that could see the spoils shared. Whether it will be enough to keep Evatt in his job, only time will tell.”

Prediction: Bolton Wanderers 0-0 Reading
