Blackburn Rovers are not close to signing Reading defender Tyler Bindon with his profile not a priority heading to January, as per the Lancashire Telegraph.

Blackburn Rovers will be looking to add some new faces to their ranks when the January transfer window opens later this week.

John Eustace’s side are right in the fight for a play-off spot but with the chasing pack picking up results, Rovers will know they’re up against it in the bid to hold onto a place in the top six.

As such, strengthening in January will be key. It’s unlikely that there will be a lot to spend, but some more shrewd business could have the Lancashire outfit in a strong position looking ahead to the second half of the season.

Blackburn Rovers have been linked with a whole host of players ahead of the window, with Reading star Tyler Bindon among them. However, fresh claims regarding those links have now emerged from the Lancashire Telegraph.

They report that there is certainly no deal close to bring Bindon to Ewood Park. In fact, his profile – a young player from a lower league – is not a priority heading into January with Rovers seemingly keen on signing more experienced players, perhaps with Championship experience already to their name.

Bindon has been scouted by a number of clubs though, and it his not ruled out that Blackburn Rovers are among them.

Smart recruitment

Given how Blackburn Rovers fared over the first half of the season, they should be more than aware that a strong January transfer window could have them in a really good position for the rest of the season.

With some added quality and some extra depth in some key areas, Eustace’s side certainly look like one capable of challenging for the play-offs over the full campaign, rather than tailing off after a strong start as they have done in years gone by.

As such, recruiting wisely in January is key.

Talented youngsters with big potential like Bindon may be attractive options, but proven players with Championship pedigree to their name may be better to eye up going into the winter.

One for the future

With that said, it could be that Bindon is a target for Blackburn Rovers to return for further down the line, maybe in the summer of 2025.

However, the problem with that is that Bindon’s growing stock and impressive performances for Reading mean he may well be snapped up by someone else when the January transfer window comes around.

Reading will be hoping to keep him but their financial situation means they’re susceptible to losing key assets once again. Bindon is among them, and his displays in League One may make him wanted in the Championship with clubs willing to splash the cash.
