Wigan Athletic were interested in a move for Blackpool striker Jordan Rhodes last month, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Patreon.

Wigan Athletic were keen on the attacker in the last transfer window but nothing materialised in the end. He ended up staying put at Bloomfield Road after the deadline on Friday 30th August.

Rhodes, 34, is under contract with the Seasiders until June 2025. He spent last season on loan from Huddersfield Town with them and scored 15 goals in 32 games in all competitions before his switch was made permanent.

As per reporter Nixon on his Patreon, the Latics eyed a potential swoop for him but weren’t able to get their man. He will now be given another chance with the Tangerines under the guidance of new boss Steve Bruce.

The ex-Premier League man was picked as their replacement for Neil Critchley and won his first game in charge over the weekend against Exeter City.
