Tranmere Rovers are battling St Johnstone to sign Charles Dunne following his exit from St Mirren, as per a report by the Daily Record.

Tranmere Rovers are interested in snapping up the free agent defender following the end of the transfer window last Friday. They won 2-1 away at Carlisle United over the weekend after two goals by attacker Omari Patrick against his former club.

Dunne, 31, cut ties with St Mirren at the end of last season and his contract officially expired with the Scottish Premiership outfit in late June. He has since been available and has been weighing up his options in the game.

In this latest update regarding his situation, the Daily Record claim the Whites are keen on luring him back down the border to England with St Johnstone wanting to keep him up in Scotland. The player is also said to have attention over in India.
