A 36-year-old woman has been handed an 18-year prison sentence for assaulting Brentford FC centre-forward Yoane Wissa (28) and attempting to kidnap his child, as reported by L’Equipe and AFP. On July 1st, 2021, when Wissa was still at Lorient, a woman attempted to kidnap the DR Congo international’s daughter in his home and threw acid on the player’s face. The severely injured Wissa had to undergo emergency eye surgery. The assailant also attacked a woman with acid the following day.
AFP reports that the assailant pretended she was pregnant and that her daughter was hospitalized. She then sat out to kidnap a baby girl to give credibility to her story. She was quickly identified and arrested on July 3rd, 2021. She denied the facts before admitting part of them. The assailant, who says she hears “inner voices” since her teenage years, was facing the prospect of a lifetime in prison. She was handed an 18-year prison sentence for attempted homicide and minor kidnapping this Friday.
