Como 1907 head coach Cesc Fàbregas confirmed to DAZN that his side have been trying to secure the transfer of Nemanja Matić (36) from Olympique Lyonnais.
Fàbregas told the broadcaster, "Matić? He’s my friend. For now, it’s just a discussion. It’s difficult, but let’s see how the market evolves." Fàbregas and Matić were previously teammates during their shared time at Chelsea FC and that relationship could prove to be an important aspect in attempting to convince the Serbian to join the Serie A team.
Matić is thought to be a target for Premier League side Ipswich Town who are searching for a means to escape relegation to the Championship after they earned promotion back to the Premier League last season.
Fàbregas dips into the French market once more as Como return to Lyon
Como already appear to have pipped one Premier League team in a race to sign a Lyon player in this transfer window. The Italian side have reportedly agreed to purchase Maxence Caqueret (24) for €17 million from Les Gones when Crystal Palace had been linked with the midfielder.
