The Ajaccio public prosecutor's office have told AFP that they have opened an investigation into the Corsican derby after "a failure to comply with an administrative travel ban."

The fiercely contested derby between AC Ajaccio and SC Bastia took place on the 26th of October in Ajaccio. However, the game had to be suspended after some Bastia fans had ignored the travel ban and were present in the home stands

Away fans have not been allowed at the Corsican derby since 2012 and the presence of some Bastia supporters caused clashes between the rival fans. These altercations led to a stampede of supporters trying to escape from the fighting and amid the chaos the referee suspended the game.

Both teams were sent back to their dressing rooms, and the game was delayed for an hour and forty minutes. This delay allowed for a storm that had been forecasted to hit the stadium and cause the match to be postponed.

Ajaccio-Bastia to be finished at later date

The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) is set to announce the date for when the game will be concluded.
