Mika Biereth (22) has received his first call-up for the Danish national team, seemingly ending uncertainty around his international allegiance.

Biereth has been on top form since joining AS Monaco from Sturm Graz in January. He has 10 goals in 11 games, as well as three assists, whilst he has netted hat-tricks in three consecutive Ligue 1 games at the Stade Louis II. The former Arsenal forward has represented Denmark at youth level, however, he has never represented the senior side.

He is eligible to play for four countries: Denmark, England, Germany, and Bosnia.“I am in a unique situation. Not many are eligible to play for four countries. My mum was born and raised in Bosnia, my dad is half-German, half-Danish, and I lived in England,” said Biereth earlier this month.

“Coming here and being here a month and a half, I didn’t think these were questions that were going to be asked but they seem to be getting asked now,” he added in a mixed zone interview, attended by Get French Football News.

Denmark have now opted to select Biereth for the upcoming international break where they will play a two-legged tie against Portugal in the UEFA Nations League. Should the centre-forward heed the call and then play, his international future will be decided.
