Stade Brestois have secured the future of their captain, Brendan Chardonnet (29). The centre-back’s current deal had been set to expire at the end of the season.
Chardonnet is slowly but surely cementing himself as a club legend at Brest. Having already featured 227 times for Les Pirates, he is the fifth-most capped player in the club’s history. He is also the first captain to lead Brest into Europe, with the club this year competing in the UEFA Champions League. Les Ty-Zéfs remain unbeaten in the competition and have won three out of their first four games.
However, with Chardonnet’s contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign, there had been a question mark surrounding his future. But no longer. On Thursday, Brest confirmed that the defender had signed a two-year extension with the Breton club, keeping him at the Stade Francis-Le Blé until the summer of 2027.
