Youssoufa Moukoko’s (20) performances on the pitch since his loan move from OGC Nice have been cause for concern. However, there are now concerns off the pitch too for the Germany international.

In 13 games, he has just two goals and two assists. In November, after a poor performance against FC Twente, Franck Haise admitted that the Germany international was struggling to find his feet. "These are difficult times when you're a footballer," said the Nice manager after that match. Things have not improved since and, as a result, Moukoko's future has been called into question.

Le Gym have the option to buy the striker at the end of the season, and whilst that currently looks like an unlikely scenario, there had even been suggestions that Moukoko's loan would be cut short. However, Haise has shut down any talk of an early termination of the loan deal.

It is more the German’s on-field performances that are eliciting concern, despite doubts about the player’s age. Those doubts arose when Joseph Moukoko, Youssoufa’s registered father, claimed in an upcoming documentary that the OGC Nice player is in fact 24 and not 20. “He was actually born on July 19, 2000. We made him four years younger,” he said.

“Whether he is 20 or 24, it changes nothing for OGC Nice,” an internal source told Nice-MatinThe source added, “His performances are more worrying and this kind of article in the media won’t help him mentally.”
