Liverpool maintained their lead at the top of the Premier League with a 2-1 win on Sunday against Chelsea.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones secured another vital three points in the league, with Arsenal’s loss to AFC Bournemouth putting Liverpool in a strong position to contend for the Premier League this season.

With David James hailing Salah as ‘sensational’ for Liverpool against Chelsea, the stars came out to shine for the Anfield side in what will go down as their first big win of the Premier League season under Arne Slot.

Yet Aaron Ramsey was impressed with another Liverpool player on Sunday.

Curtis Jones praised after ‘brilliant’ Liverpool match-winner vs Chelsea

Speaking on Monday Night Football, the former Arsenal star lauded Jones for his match-winning goal for Liverpool, with the England youth international the hero on Merseyside for the Reds against Chelsea.

With Ryan Gravenberch hailing Jones as 'unbelievable' for Liverpool, it was a game to remember for the young midfielder, who made a serious claim as to why he should be starting in Slot’s midfield in upcoming games.

And Jones’ performance caught the eye of Ramsey, with the Wales international saying: “He had a brilliant game. He had a mixture of everything, winning tackles in his own area and things like that, but this is what impressed me the most, the timing of his goal.

“The ball goes wide here and you could see the gap opening. As soon as Salah comes in there with his left foot, I mean, your eyes are lighting up. You just attack that space and he has put that ball in.”

How good was Jones’ performance actually vs Chelsea?

Gabriel Agbonlahor stated that Jones is starting to prove Slot wrong at Liverpool after the 23-year-old midfielder’s performance for the Reds on the weekend against Chelsea, a display that could go far in the Premier League title race.

And as the youngster’s numbers below show, Jones truly was incredible for Liverpool against their west London rivals, with the England youth international showing how good a weapon he can be for the Anfield side when needed.
