Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur played out one of the games of the season as the Reds came out on top 6-3 away from home.
Arne Slot’s side extended their gap at the top of the table to four points and still have a game in hand over second-placed Chelsea, who were held to a 0-0 draw against Everton.

The Reds had a handful of standout performers as they emphatically put Tottenham to the sword, but Gary Neville feels one of their attackers actually reminded him of Roberto Firmino.
Gary Neville says Luis Diaz showed signs of Roberto Firmino
With Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota on the bench, Slot decided to start Luis Diaz as a number nine, a role the Colombian has played a few times this season.
He scored a hattrick from that position against Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League and was in the thick of the action again today as he scored a brace.
His first goal, in particular, was a thing of beauty as Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered a fantastic pass for him to head home.
And speaking after Diaz’s clever movement helped him get on the edge of a gorgeous cross, Neville said on Sky: “I spoke about Roberto Firmino before and the amazing job he did with Mane and Salah for any years.
“Diaz has taken that template.”
Diaz’s stats vs Tottenham
Liverpool fans were impressed by Dominik Szoboszlai’s performance against Tottenham as the Hungarian midfielder notched up a goal and an assist.
- 2 goals
- 2 key passes
- 5 shots on target
- 100% dribbles completed
- 88% pass accuracy
However, it was Diaz who was named as Liverpool’s Man of the Match, as he beat the likes of Salah and Szoboszlai to the award.
Barcelona feel they can sign Diaz next summer, but the former Porto man looks very well settled at Anfield and is currently loving life under Slot, so it remains to be seen what the future holds.
