Tottenham suffered a humbling 6-3 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, a result that left head coach Ange Postecoglou visibly frustrated during his post-match interview.

The game exposed Spurs' defensive vulnerabilities, with injuries to several key players compounding their struggles.

Liverpool wasted no time exploiting Tottenham's makeshift backline, asserting their dominance from the start.

First-half goals from Diaz, Mac Allister, and Szoboszlai put the visitors in control, with James Maddison's strike offering a rare bright spot for Spurs before the break.

The Reds continued to pile on the pressure in the second half, with Diaz completing his brace and Salah netting twice to seal the victory.

While late goals from Kulusevski and Solanke offered some consolation, they did little to change the outcome of the game.

Postecoglou's frustration became evident during his BBC interview when he was asked whether injuries were to blame for Spurs' defensive issues.

The Australian manager dismissed the question as overly simplistic, emphasising that the absence of critical players such as Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie had clearly affected the team's performance.

He expressed weariness over repeatedly addressing what he viewed as obvious challenges.

Postecoglou said to BBC (quotes via Express):

"I'm just going to stop answering these questions.

"If people can't see the obvious I'm not going to point it out. Make of it what you want, yes we're conceding goals.

"If you want to discount the fact we're missing a goalkeeper, two centre-backs and left-back and that hasn't coincided with what we're doing… I don't know what to say anymore.

"I think people make up their mind in their own way. They either think what I'm doing is good or bad, and that's fine."

The defensive pairing of 18-year-old Archie Gray and Radu Dragusin, though hard-working, struggled to manage Liverpool's formidable attacking lineup. Djed Spence, stepping in for Udogie on the left, further highlighted Tottenham's lack of experienced options at the back.

The defeat leaves Spurs in 11th place in the Premier League table with 23 points, underlining the tough season they are enduring under Postecoglou's leadership.

Despite the challenges, the manager remains optimistic about turning things around once his squad regains full fitness. Tottenham will need collective resilience and improved performances to recover from this setback and make a push to improve their standing in the league during the second half of the season.
