Liverpool have been rumoured with a move for Aurelien Tchouameni for what feels like forever, with the midfielder now regarded as one of the best in the world.

The Reds famously missed out on signing the French international back in 2022 when Real Madrid won the race to sign Tchouameni, who since moving to Spain has who the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League.

Despite being a regular for Carlo Ancelotti, Tchouameni has remained a target for Liverpool, with rumours now suggesting that the Anfield side could launch an audacious swap deal for the 24-year-old involving Ryan Gravenberch.

Yet this proposal seems to be based more on fantasy than truth.

Liverpool have ‘no intention’ of pursuing Gravenberch/Tchouameni swap deal

According to Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool have ‘no intention’ of allowing Gravenberch to leave or to be involved in a swap deal with Madrid for Tchouameni, with the journalist posting: "Ryan Gravenberch is currently not considering leaving Liverpool.

“The 22y/o is a key performer and a leading player for the team. Currently, there are no plans or discussions regarding a transfer in winter or summer. Been told that Liverpool also have no intention of pursuing a swap deal involving Aurelien Tchouameni at this stage."

With Gravenberch recently lauded by Steve Nicol as ‘flaweless’ after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Fulham, the idea of the midfielder leaving Anfield, even if it meant bringing in Tchouameni, is something the majority of fans would be against.

And with Liverpool now distancing themselves from the French midfielder, there is a good chance that Gravenberch could become the player Slot decides to build his new centre around, with new signings expected in 2025.

What else has been said about Gravenberch this season?

Gravenberch has been the revelation of the season for Liverpool, with Slot transforming the former Bayern Munich star into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and a talent that could star for the Reds for years to come.

And the 22-year-old’s performances have caught the eye, with Liverpool fans lauding Gravenberch after his display against Fulham on the weekend with Slot also joining in on praising the Dutch international for his showing at Anfield.

Indeed, Gravenberch has become the dream midfielder for Liverpool this season, and letting the youngster leave for Madrid would be a decision the majority of fans would riot against, with the Ajax academy graduate setting himself up for an incredible career on Merseyside.
