'Couldn't deal': £12m Liverpool player given terrible rating after torrid display for his country last night

Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas was named in the starting XI for Greece as they were beaten 3-0 at home by England in a UEFA Nations League clash.
Coming up against his Liverpool teammate Curtis Jones – who was named Man of the Match on his England debut – the left-back was in the thick of the action at both ends of the pitch.
While Jones took centre stage and received plaudits for his performance, the Liverpool defender endured a night to forget at the Olympic Stadium in Athens.
Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas struggles against Noni Madueke
Occupying his usual left-back spot, Tsimikas came close to scoring after running past Kyle Walker in the England backline but was denied by a fantastic save from Jordan Pickford.
However, the rest of the night was quite poor for him, as Chelsea’s Noni Madueke ran him ragged and consistently got the better of him.
The Independent said Tsimikas ‘simply couldn’t deal’ with Madueke’s direct running and rated the Chelsea attacker 9/10, which is a sign that he emerged as the clear winner in that duel.

Similarly, the Guardian claimed Madueke ‘had the beating’ of Tsimikas, who was substituted in the second half after a tough night.
And finally, the Daily Mail rated the Liverpool defender’s performance 4.5/10, although they failed to delve into the specifics.
Tsimikas’ stats vs England
Having joined Liverpool for £12m in 2020, the Greek defender has blown hot and cold at Anfield so far.
Arne Slot feels Tsimikas has a lot of ‘quality’ as he continues to share left-back duties at Liverpool with Andy Robertson.
However, he couldn’t get to grips with the England forwards and his stats show just how much he struggled on the night.
