Five first team players are unlikely to make the trip to face RB Leipzig with Jota absent following an apparent rib injury suffered against Chelsea.

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota is unlikely to travel with the team when the Reds jet off to face RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday, with the player absent from their final training session on Tuesday and joining a growing injury list.

Jota was one of five key first team players who were missing from training, adding to a list that has seen forward Federico Chiesa and right back Conor Bradley missing in recent days while Harvey Elliott and Alisson Becker remain longer-term absences.

While there has been no confirmation from the club, if Jota has in fact suffered a fractured rib as appeared to be the case when Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo rugby tackled him as the last man back and was fortunate to only see a yellow card.

Meanwhile, Chiesa has been absent with an unspecified injury since before the October international break and Bradley has been absent since returning from his stint captaining Northern Ireland and Elliott and Allison are continuing their recoveries.

Liverpool's robust depth means at least for the time being it should be a survivable injury list for Slot's table topping Reds, but a few more names added to it would certainly make things interesting with the fixture list getting increasingly congested.
