Mohamed Salah proved his worth to Liverpool once more with a superb brace in the 3-2 win against Southampton.

Salah is disappointed about his Liverpool contract situation, with his current deal set to expire next summer.

But he hasn't let that impact his form on the pitch, with Salah moving into double figures for Liverpool goals this season.

The Egyptian attacker now has 12 goals and 10 assists from his 18 appearances in all competitions under Arne Slot.

And since moving to Anfield from Roma in 2017, Salah has 223 goals and 99 assists from 367 Liverpool appearances.

Arne Slot told what he should simply ‘never’ do with Mohamed Salah

He played the entire 90 minutes in the Premier League win at Southampton, with Slot instead withdrawing his fellow starting attackers Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez in the second half.

And that was a fantastic decision from Slot according to former Reds midfielder Don Hutchison, who said on BBC's Football Daily: "If you are Arne Slot and have learned anything from watching Jurgen Klopp's tapes – you never take him off. There are players at Liverpool that you can take off and rest, but you would never do it with Mo Salah.

"He might get to the point where he might be a little bit like [Cristiano] Ronaldo in his later years. Ronaldo at Manchester United a couple of years ago was probably not closing down, people were talking about [a lack of] intensity in terms of closing down from the front, but he was still scoring goals.

"That’s what you might see from Mo Salah if he stays on. He might not be super important in the 90 minutes, but every single game he will score, maybe score a brace, he will have assists. He is so crucial to this team it is untrue."

Glenn Murray makes Mohamed Salah claim after latest Liverpool heroics

No player wants to be taken off during a match, with Salah having shown his frustrations with Klopp on the touchline on several occasions.

The duo had a particularly heated clash at West Ham last season, with Slot surely desperate not to have a repeat of that scenario.

There have seemingly been no issues thus far, even with star man Salah not always completing every game.

His latest display has left Glenn Murray completely in awe, with the former Brighton striker adding on Football Daily: "100% there is no one in the game that can come and fill his boots. Nowhere near.

"What a lot of people miss about him, because he is so slight and a winger, is that he is fit for 90 minutes every single week.

"Of any generation of Premier League players, I think he will be talked about being the best. I am not saying he is the best, but he is in the conversation of being the best Premier League player of all time."
