'Don't be surprised': Liverpool could make late move and beat Man United to 'top young player' - journalist

Liverpool’s win over Southampton on Wednesday showed that the Reds have some really promising young players at their disposal.
Arne Slot has so far chosen not to put too much trust in youngsters from the Liverpool academy during his time in charge of the club.
However, by throwing the likes of Trey Nyoni and Tyler Morton in at St Mary’s, Slot allowed two of Liverpool’s best young midfielders to shine.
The displays of Nyoni and Morton showed that despite the clamour to add another midfielder to the Liverpool squad, the Reds are not badly stocked in that department after all.
Nevertheless, plenty of supporters would still like to see Liverpool add a new midfielder during the January transfer window.
And according to journalist Graeme Bailey, the Reds could yet swoop in and steal away one of Europe’s most promising midfield prospects.
Liverpool not out of Sverre Nypan race
As well as Nyoni, Morton and even James McConnell, Liverpool fans must remember that they also have Stefan Bajcetic to come back to the club next season.
As a result, they do not necessarily need to add another young midfielder to the mix at Anfield.
Despite that, the Reds are always on the lookout for the latest talent emerging around Europe. One of those to have broken out in the past 18 months has been Rosenberg midfielder Sverre Nypan.
But while Nypan looks likely to join Man United, Bailey exclusively tells Rousing The Kop that Liverpool cannot be counted out from making a late swoop just yet.

“United are confident that they’re going to get him in January, but nothing’s done until it’s done,” says the transfer expert.
“Liverpool have got strong links in Norway and he’s player they are aware of, so don’t be surprised to see a Liverpool or a Man City come in late for this lad.
“But United think they’re going to get him and it seems Nypan wants to go there,” Bailey adds. “He’s visited the club a few times, for example, but he hasn’t signed anything yet.”
Nypan set for £10m January move
Nypan looks like a really exciting prospect coming out of Norway. Despite having only turned 18 on December 19th, he has already made 57 appearances for Rosenberg, scoring 13 goals.
A silky, two-footed midfielder, Nypan is also a Norway U21 international who looks destined to star alongside Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland in the senior side before long.
And according to Bailey, this exciting talent is virtually certain to move in January and is get-able for just £10m.
“Rosenberg are willing to let him go for around £10m, so not expensive and a really top young player,” he says.
“He’ll announce where he’s going in early January and he’ll be moving.”
