Liverpool are firmly in the race to sign Greek forward Stefanos Tzimas but are far from alone, Rousing The Kop understands.

Reports this week have suggested that Liverpool are in talks with Tzimas over a summer transfer to Anfield.

However, RTK understands that an enquiry from the Reds is as far as things have currently gone.

Liverpool are understood to have been impressed by Tzimas’ performances for FC Nurnberg this season and have spoken to the German club about their plans for his future.

And while Nurnberg are planning to sell the 19-year-old next summer after triggering his buy option from PAOK, RTK have been informed that Liverpool should not be considered as favourites just yet.

Stefanos Tzimas attracting plenty of interest

Tzimas has been labelled as a ‘two-footed’ forward and has impressing for Nurnberg this season after joining the Bundesliga 2 club on-loan from PAOK.

It’s understood that the youngster’s goal-scoring heroics initially caught the attention of West Ham, who asked about Tzimas as far back as October.

Since then, RTK have been informed that at least five Premier League clubs have spoken to Nurnberg about the Greece U19 international.

As well as Liverpool, it’s understood that Tottenham, Newcastle, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Chelsea are all firmly in the race to sign Tzimas.

Liverpool are the most recent club to enquire after Tzimas, but RTK understands that as well as English sides, there are also a number of teams in Europe who are monitoring the young striker.

The price is understood to be an attractive one with Tzimas seen as being a player with huge potential.

In terms of a January deal, RTK have been informed that there is no chance of Liverpool – or any other side – getting Tzimas through the door this month.

No Darwin Nunez offers for Liverpool

With Liverpool looking into a deal for Tzimas, there have been further question marks raised over the future of Darwin Nunez.

However, as RTK exclusively revealed on Tuesday, there have been no offers for Nunez and no contact from suitors in the Saudi Pro League.

Nunez is understood to be a candidate to be sold next summer, but is not expected to leave Liverpool in January.

With the window open things can change quickly, but for the time being it’s understood that there is little chance of Nunez leaving this month.
