'Expecting': Chris Sutton predicts the score when Liverpool take on Aston Villa at Anfield tomorrow
Today at 07:00 AM
Liverpool end the next portion of the domestic season on Saturday as they face Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The Reds had a really difficult looking fixture list following the October international break, with some predicting their downfall after a promising start to the campaign.
Instead, Liverpool have risen to the challenge. Wins over Chelsea, RB Leipzig, Brighton twice and Bayer Leverkusen were recorded, with a good draw away at Arsenal also thrown in.
This excellent run of form has seen Arne Slot lead his team to the top of the Premier League and the Champions League.
That is a position they’ll look to consolidate on Saturday, with Villa heading to Anfield for a rare 8pm kick-off.
And after Unai Emery’s side lost against Club Brugge on Wednesday, pundit Chris Sutton has predicted what the score will be.
Chris Sutton backs Liverpool win
Villa have seen plenty of plaudits come their way over the past 18 months or so.
Having deservedly qualified for the Champions League last season, Emery has his team looking good once again this term.
However, the Villains have seen a recent downturn in performances and results as they prepare to take on a Liverpool squad in exceptional form.
Wednesday’s surprise loss against Brugge was their third in a row in all competitions.

And doing his predictions for BBC Sport, Sutton has claimed that Liverpool will make that four on Saturday evening.
“It was such a lethargic performance by Aston Villa against Club Brugge on Wednesday. I was expecting far more from them,” says the former Celtic striker.
“Villa will need much more intensity if they are going to compete at Anfield, but the form Arne Slot’s side are in means I cannot see past a home win for this one. 2-0.”
Liverpool can send Aston Villa statement
By the time Liverpool kick-off against Villa they may still be top of the table.
Man City play in the 5.30m game just before the Reds, but their away game with Brighton looks like another tough test for the champions.
Anything but a win at the Amex will see City remain in second-place. If Pep Guardiola’s team have indeed dropped points before Liverpool play, the atmosphere at Anfield will be raucous.
In that scenario, a win for the Reds would send out a serious statement to the rest of the division.
It would also send them 10 points clear of Aston Villa, Arsenal and Chelsea ahead of the Gunners match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. This feels like another huge one for Liverpool!
