'For sure': Mohamed Salah makes prediction about Virgil van Dijk with Liverpool contract still not sorted
Today at 12:00 PM
Mohamed Salah was the hero for Liverpool on Sunday against Southampton with two goals to secure a 3-2 win at St. Mary’s.
But this Monday has been dominated by news surrounding the winger’s future, with Salah revealing that he’s disappointed Liverpool have not handed him a new contract offer with the forward’s current deal set to expire next summer.
With fans fuming with how Liverpool’s FSG owners have gone about awarding Salah a new contract, pressure is starting to mount on handing the 32-year-old fresh terms with the Egyptian international currently set to become a free-agent in 2025.
And Salah has now and a comment on Virgil van Dijk’s future, with the defender also set to leave Liverpool for nothing as things stand.
Salah hopes to see Van Dijk play at the highest level for as long as possible
Speaking to reporters after Liverpool’s 3-2 win against Southampton, Salah said he hopes to see the Anfield captain compete at ‘the highest level’ amid Van Dijk’s own contract saga with the Reds.
Van Dijk recently said that there are no updates surrounding a new Liverpool contract, with the defender currently set to join Salah and Trent Alexnader-Arnold out of Merseyside at the end of this season.

Yet Salah has seemingly hinted that he wants Van Dijk to stay at Liverpool if he was to pen a new contract, a development that every supporter would love to see heading into 2025 under Arne Slot.
Salah said: “I’m very professional, everyone’s seen my work, I’m just trying to enjoy my football, so I will play at the highest level for as long as possible for sure, me and this man [Van Dijk].”
Salah and Van Dijk both staying would be huge for Liverpool
With Van Dijk the most likely of Liverpool’s three superstars to sign a new contract, Salah’s comments could jumpstart the Anfield hierarchy into action to ensure that the Reds captain and the Egyptian no. 11 stay on Merseyside.
And although Alexander-Arnold heading out the exit would be a shame for every Liverpool fan, Salah and Van Dijk committing their futures to the Reds would be nothing short of seismic for the Premier League leaders.
Indeed, Liverpool have been sensational this season under Slot, and Salah and Van Dijk’s form has been influential to this run, with the new era of the Reds one that is beginning to become quite exciting.
