Federico Chiesa this weekend made his Premier League debut for Liverpool, with the Italian taking to Anfield for the first time against AFC Bournemouth.

The summer signing from Juventus was one of two additions Arne Slot made this off-season, with Chiesa joining Liverpool with a big reputation from Serie A despite spending that last few years struggling with injuries.

With Kris Boyd saying Chiesa looked rusty against Bournemouth, it will take some weeks before the former ACF Fiorentina star is back to his best, with Liverpool having a potential superstar on their hands if the winger can regain fitness.

And Chiesa has now shared how he felt playing at Anfield for the first time this weekend.

Chiesa in awe with ‘amazing’ Liverpool atmosphere

Speaking to LFC TV, the 26-year-old attacker shared his amazement at playing at Anfield for the first time, with Chiesa in awe at hearing You’ll Never Walk Alone for the first time as a player in the matchday squad.

Chiesa said when asked if playing at Anfield lived up to his expectations: “Yes, it did! Hearing You'll Never Walk Alone for the first time from the bench, it was amazing. It was amazing also against Nottingham Forest but unfortunately, we lost, but today was really amazing.”

With Liverpool’s anthem one of the most famous in all of sports, it’s no wonder why Chiesa was starstruck by the moment, something many former players highlight as one of the best things about playing for the Reds.

And with Chiesa slowly starting to gain match fitness, it won’t be long before the Italian international is starting for Liverpool, where the forward can become an immense attacking weapon for Slot and his side.

Anfield can get the best out of Chiesa this season

Chiesa was signed by Liverpool this summer as something of a project player, with the winger in need of a change of scenery having spent the last few seasons at Juventus struggling for any real form whilst dealing with injuries.

Yet a move to Anfield is exactly what Chiesa might need to get his career back off the ground, with the attacker a player who has proven he can be a real handful for defenders when in the right system with the right teammates.

Indeed, Anfield is a ground that gets the best out of certain Liverpool players, and Chiesa could become the next in line to take inspiration from the famous ground to get his form back to the world-class levels it was previously at.
