With no games to play this week, focus at Liverpool has been on the ongoing contract situations of three of their biggest players.

The Reds have made an excellent start to the season, winning three games out of three.

But with the first international break of the campaign now arriving, there is nothing on the pitch to distract away from the contract trouble at Anfield.

As the season continues, the closer Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk edge towards the exit door at Liverpool.

With time running out in which to sort out extensions, Ian Wright has given his take on what he thinks will happen with Salah in particular.

Ian Wright makes Mohamed Salah prediction

Of the three players, Salah has started the season in the most eye-catching form. The Egyptian has been insatiable.

After three games Salah has three goals and three assists. For the first time ever, the 32-year-old has scored in each of the campaign’s opening trio of games.

In action for Egypt on Friday, Mo was not able to extend that run into a fourth game, but there will be an expectation that he finds the net when Liverpool face Nottingham Forest on September 14th.

In the meantime, talk over his new contract will continue to grow.

According to Wright, though, Liverpool supporters have nothing really to worry about. Speaking via premierleague.com, the pundit claimed that his ‘impression’ is that Salah will stay.

“I do get the impression that he will probably like to stay at Liverpool and break records,” says Wright. “He has got that legacy to play for.

“Let's say he stays for three years. Even if he dropped off in the last year, that's 10 years of unbelievable Liverpool service,” he adds. “I believe that he will probably stay if Liverpool go about it.”

Cesc Fabregas refutes Ian Wright claim

From one former Arsenal player to another, Cesc Fabregas has refuted Wright’s suggestion that Salah is likely to stay with Liverpool.

Speaking earlier this week, Fabregas weighed in on the Salah situation.

Citing his personal relationship with the No.11 from their time together at Chelsea, Fabregas suggests that Salah would not have spoken so clearly after last week’s game against Man United if he was not expecting to leave.

Clearly, we’d like to lean towards Wright’s version of events so far. However, we don’t think anyone truly knows what will happen next, not even Salah and Liverpool themselves.

For now, we’re just going to have to sit tight and wait for a more definitive update. The sooner the better, Liverpool.
