Arne Slot made it eight wins from nine as Liverpool manager as the Reds swept aside Bologna 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League.

The Dutch coach’s first European night at Anfield, Liverpool once again got the job in comfortable fashion despite some nervy moments from Bologna, with Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah the goalscorers on the day.

With Ryan Gravenberch winning praise from the Reds manager, it was a good day in the office for a number of Liverpool players as Slot continues to look for that winning formula that could make the Merseyside giants unstoppable.

Yet Peter Crouch believes one Liverpool player will be disappointed with himself against Bologna.

Crouch ‘feels’ for Darwin Nunez after lackluster Liverpool display

Speaking on TNT Sports after the 2-0 win, the former Liverpool striker noted how Darwin Nunez will feel ‘disappointed’ with his performance on the night, with the Uruguay international hooked off after an hour for Diogo Jota.

With Nunez Liverpool’s worst rated player against Bologna, the 25-year-old attacker will rightfully feel like he missed out on a major opportunity to make a statement to Slot, who could now consider dropping the striker for this weekend’s tie against Crystal Palace.

And Crouch believes Nunez will feel annoyed with himself after last night’s performance, with the pundit saying: “I feel for Nunez a little bit. He didn’t do a lot wrong there, but Jota’s got the shirt at the moment.

“I’ve been there where you know you’ve got an hour to impress and when you see Jota warming up you know your number’s coming up. He’ll be disappointed but he’s got to keep going and he’ll get his chances this season”

Nunez already feels like he’s fighting for his Liverpool career

Nunez’s start to life under Slot has been underwhelming, to say the least, with the former Benfica man not showing the usual chaotic energy that made the attacker such a wildcard option for Jurgen Klopp in the last two seasons.

And even though the season is yet to hit ten games, it already feels like Nunez is fighting to save his Liverpool career, with Slot seemingly favouring Diogo Jota as the centre-forward option going into upcoming games.

Indeed, Nunez’s Liverpool career is on the line, and after last night’s performance, the striker is not doing himself any favours in trying to get into Slot’s good books, something that is slowly starting to close on the South American star.
