'I'd say': Curtis Jones names the three Liverpool players he considers to be his best friends in football

Liverpool’s excellent start to the season has highlighted what a tightknit group Arne Slot has inherited.
That the Reds have transitioned so comfortably from Jurgen Klopp to Slot is testament to the togetherness within the camp.
One player who embodies that more than most is midfielder Curtis Jones.
Jones is currently the man of the moment after a sensational goal-scoring debut for England on Thursday. The Liverpool academy graduate has been enjoying a good time of it with the Reds lately, too.
On top of his brilliant football ability, though, Jones is a good player to have around the Liverpool squad because of his upbeat and happy nature.
The 23-year-old is a bubbly personality who appears to get along with just about everyone at Liverpool. Still, Jones has admitted that there are three of his Reds teammates who he is closer to than anyone else.

Jones’ England debut on Thursday could hardly have gone better. It wasn’t just his impudent, flicked finish, the Liverpool man’s all-round performance was top-notch, too.
Steven Gerrard hailed Jones after the game had finished and he is surely set for plenty more praise over the coming days.
Perhaps part of the reason Jones looks so comfortable at England is that he has his closest friend alongside him.
Asked by BBC 5 Live to reveal his ‘best mate in football’ Liverpool’s No.17 didn’t hesitate in naming former Everton man Anthony Gordon.

“I’ve got a few but just because I’m here on camp, yeah, it’s there,” he said.
Pushed by a surprised interviewer as to why none of his Liverpool teammates made the cut, Jones went on to name Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravnberch and Ibrahima Konate as his three top friends at Anfield.
“I mean if you want me to give you a list I’d say Anthony, Cody, Ryan and Konate,” Jones explained.

In an interesting little interview with 5 Live, Jones also named Roberto Firmino as the best player he’d ever played with.
This is not a new comment from the midfielder. Jones picked Firmino as his number one recently during a different interview with Sky Sports.
Again asked to explain why he had overlooked Mohamed Salah, Curtis suggested that even Mo himself would admit to the brilliance of Bobby.
“I think Mo would probably say the same thing,” he said. “The stuff he can do, I can’t do.”
Great to hear some insight from a player who is right on top of his game at the moment.
