Arne Slot was this summer named as Jurgen Klopp’s successor at Liverpool, with the Dutch manager arriving with a big reputation from the Netherlands.

Making the switch from Feyenoord to Anfield, Slot finally made the jump to the Premier League after being linked with a move to England for several years, and the 46-year-old coach chose the perfect time and club to join.

Slot has been a revelation at Liverpool with the Reds top of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League standings with the Merseyside giants also through to the semi-finals of the League Cup, a title that the English giants will want to win.

Yet Slot has said that there are some factors about his former club, Feyenoord, that he is missing.

Slot says he is missing Feyenoord players and supporters

Speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, Slot admitted that he is missing Feyenoord players and fans, with the Dutch coach clearly having a strong connection to his former club after such a successful time with the Eredivisie giants.

Although Slot reiterated that he’s loving life at Liverpool and the lack of pressure the media give him towards what he felt in the Netherlands, the Anfield boss made no effort to hide his lack of appreciation for his former team, the club that led him to Merseyside.

Slot said when asked about if he thinks about Feyenoord: “I do miss Feyenoord. The players, the people, the supporters. But I also have it very good here. I find the questions from the Dutch journalists a bit more difficult to answer than the subjects here.

“Here, no one really tries to provoke you. In England, analysts get much more speaking time on the channel to analyse game situations or patterns with images. Monday Night Football is a good example of that. There, it’s about football for minutes on end.”

Slot will grow to love Liverpool more than Feyenoord

Many similarities were made between Liverpool and Feyenoord in the weeks building up to Slot’s appointment at Anfield, with the two clubs based in working class cities steeped in proud traditions as the biggest teams in their respective countries.

And for Slot, the Dutch coach will grow to love Liverpool as much as he loves Feyenoord, with Reds supporters already confident that their successor to Klopp will leave the club to a new golden age that few expected from their new manager.

Indeed, Slot’s impact at Liverpool has been astonishing, and heading into 2025, the former Feyenoord man will grow to love his new club as much as his previous ones with each passing game.
