'I saw': Arne Slot admits he got something wrong about Darwin Nunez in Liverpool win vs Bournemouth

Arne Slot has guided Liverpool back to winning ways in the Premier League after they beat Bournemouth 3-0.
Summer signing Federico Chiesa made his Premier League debut against the Cherries, with Luis Diaz impressing for Liverpool in the important victory.
The Colombian scored a brace to put the home side 2-0 ahead at Anfield, with his fellow South American Darwin Nunez adding a third.
Arne Slot should be delighted with the display and the result, with the Liverpool defence keeping yet another clean sheet.
The Dutchman has, however, admitted to making a mistake regarding Nunez, who was handed his first start of the season against Bournemouth.

Nunez has endured a roller-coaster ride at Anfield since his big-money move from Benfica, but fortunately he proved his worth against the Cherries this time around.
Latching onto a pass from Mohamed Salah out wide, Nunez shaped up his man before cutting into the box and unleashing a stunning left-footed strike off the post and into the back of the net.

As quoted by BBC Sport, Slot has now shared his thoughts on the goal, saying: "My first instinct when he shot was, ‘why does he shoot?’. I would have said, ‘why don’t you keep on dribbling?’.
"He made the ball free and I think the defender was on the ground. But then it was a fraction of a second later when I saw the ball go in off the post. Then I was like, ‘Okay, maybe you are a better football player than I was in the past’."
Darwin Nunez boosts Liverpool starting chances
Nunez has certainly not been favoured by Slot this season, but he has now boosted his chances of more minutes thanks to the goal against Bournemouth.
It was by no means an outstanding display from the Uruguayan, but ultimately he is on the pitch to score goals, and he did that in fine fashion against the Cherries.
The Anfield faithful never quite know what to expect from the attacker, but they will have very few complaints if he continues to find the back of the net.

But Diogo Jota, who has been heavily relied upon by Slot going forward this season, should not be worried about his opportunities on the pitch.
Liverpool have a very busy schedule, and the Dutchman needs to keep rotating his attackers in order to enjoy success in the likes of the Premier League, Champions League and League Cup.
