Liverpool manager Arne Slot should be confident of being able to compete on all fronts this season thanks to his talented squad.

Federico Chiesa was the only summer arrival at Liverpool, but Jurgen Klopp did leave Slot with plenty to work with at Anfield.

The Dutchman is seemingly even getting the best out of players that didn't exactly shine under the German, even in these early stages.

Caoimhin Kelleher has been impressed by Ryan Gravenberch, while Ibrahima Konate is shining for Liverpool, with the midfielder and defender having often been overlooked by Klopp.

A big and talented squad is needed by Slot, particularly at this stage of the season with the fixtures already coming thick and fast.

And Slot certainly needed one of his reserve players for the clash with Bournemouth, with Kelleher coming in for the injured Alisson.

The Republic of Ireland international was in superb form at Anfield, but prior to the match former Premier League goalkeeper Shay Given urged his compatriot to really consider his future at the club.

"Caoimhin Kelleher is so composed and never gets flustered – he has a calm presence," Given said on BBC Sport Final Score (2.48pm, 21 September).

"I think he is good enough to be number one somewhere else in the Premier League. Liverpool is a great club, but you have one career and one chance. I think he needs to move."

Caoimhin Kelleher should leave Anfield in the transfer window

Kelleher has been an extremely loyal servant to Liverpool over the years, initially under Klopp but now under Slot.

The Republic of Ireland international stepped up superbly against the Cherries following the injury to the club's number one Alisson.

Kelleher kept Bournemouth at bay time and again at Anfield, where his fantastic shot-stopping abilities were on full display.

But sadly Liverpool fans only really get to see his talents when Brazilian star Alisson needs a rest or is injured.

It is an unfortunate situation for such a talented goalkeeper, who really should move on at the next opportunity given how he won't be able to topple number one Alisson.

Arne Slot needs Caoimhin Kelleher at Liverpool this season

Slot should, however, do his utmost to keep Kelleher until next summer, with the manager definitely needing the goalkeeper for situations such as the one against Bournemouth.

Klopp frequently turned to the Irish star in his final season in charge, with Chris Sutton labelling Kelleher 'phenomenal'.

It is only going to get worse for the 25-year-old on Merseyside, with Giorgi Mamardashvili arriving from Valencia next summer.

His arrival will push the current Reds number two further down the pecking order, whereas several Premier League clubs would undoubtedly be fortunate to call Kelleher their number one.
