It was another happy night out at Anfield for Liverpool as they came from behind to secure a 3-1 win against Leicester City.

Arne Slot’s side are now seven points clear of Chelsea despite having a game in hand, with the Blues losing 2-1 against Fulham earlier today.

Jordan Ayew broke the deadlock in the sixth minute to stun the home crowd, but Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah got their names on the scoresheet to give the Reds three priceless points.

And the Liverpool boss has made an interesting claim on one of his goalscorers on the night.

Starting in midfield alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai, Jones made his 100th Premier League appearance for the club and capped it off with a fine goal in the second half.

The England international made a late run into the box and his first-time finish found its way into the back of the net after being teed up by Mac Allister.

While Slot praised Jones for making a telling contribution to the game, he urged the young midfielder to score more goals after what was a historic night for him.

"The first and third goals were quite similar and these players have the quality to dominate these situations and have a great finish as well,” said Slot to BBC.

“I liked the second as well, more of a team goal and Curtis Jones arriving in the box doing something that in my opinion he has to do a lot more. As a midfielder at Liverpool, you have to score goals and that is what he did today."

Jones’ stats vs Liverpool

Jones was one of Liverpool’s best players vs Leicester and justified his selection ahead of Dominik Szoboszlai, who was fantastic in the previous game against Tottenham Hotspur.

With games set to come thick and fast across all competitions over the next two months, the England international will hope to continue his rich vein of form.

The boss has asked for more goals from Jones and it remains to be seen how he responds in the coming weeks and months.

Well played, Curt!
