Jamie Carragher’s career at Liverpool is legendary.

The former Reds centre-back came through the Merseyside club’s academy before going on to represent the Premier League giants 737 times in all competitions.

The defender’s career saw him win multiple trophies at Anfield with the Premier League being the only medal the Sky Sports pundit doesn’t have in his collection of club memorabilia.

Throughout his time with club and country, Carragher played with some exceptional talent. Putting them into a five-a-side team would be a tricky task for the pundit but that is what the former centre-back did back in 2016.

Jamie Carragher includes Liverpool duo in dream midfield

Carragher retired from football in 2013 despite jokingly asking Jurgen Klopp to return to Liverpool three years later.

When asked to pick his dream five-a-side team by Soccer AM, the pundit created an impressive team, which contained four former Liverpool stars.

The Liverpool legend had Pepe Reina between the sticks as the pundit believes the Spaniard could have played in the modern game due to his ability with his feet.

As the sole defender, Carragher went with John Terry, simply because the Chelsea legend is who the Sky Sports man views as the “best defender in the Premier League era”.

Recently, Carragher stated that Mohamed Salah is closing in on Steven Gerrard as Liverpool’s greatest-ever player, but it was no surprise to see the Reds legend at the heart of the former centre-back’s team, who was also made captain.

Partnering him was Xabi Alonso, with Carragher stating that the current Bayer Leverkusen boss’ ‘fantastic CV’ got him into the Liverpool Legends team.

Up top, Carragher went with Luis Suarez, who many younger fans view as the greatest striker to ever play for the Merseyside club – with Philippe Coutinho also including the former Liverpool forward in his best five-a-side team.

Honourable mentions Jamie Carragher left out of his dream five-a-side team

When it comes to Liverpool, the first player who would be deemed unlucky to miss out is Fernando Torres as the Spaniard was exceptional during his time on Merseyside scoring 81 goals across the 142 appearances he made for the Reds.

Another would be Sami Hyypia as the Finnish star was a huge part of Liverpool’s success during Carragher’s time at the club, especially on the way to winning the Champions League and FA Cup, although it is hard to argue against Terry.

From an England point of view, Frank Lampard can feel unlucky to miss out as the trophies the former Chelsea star won throughout his career speak for themselves. Wayne Rooney will also feel harshly done by, although Suarez is one of the only names the former Man United star may accept being behind.
