Dowie made history as the first women's player to join a Legends match on Saturday when she came off the bench.

It has been a minute since the club announced Natasha Dowie as their first women's Legend and ambassador, and she has finally gotten to reap a little of what that means by becoming the first women's player to feature in a Legends match. The Liverpool Legends faced off against Chelsea Legends at Anfield on Saturday to raise funds for the LFC Foundation.

Coming off the bench to join a squad including Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt, and Sami Hyypia fulfilled a lot of childhood dreams for the goal scorer, and even better it was to a 58,000 strong crowd at the historic stadium.

"Absolutely brilliant. Most importantly, we raised money for a great cause but we won the game," Dowie told the club website.

"Lovely to get a runout myself and great to play in front of this crowd. Definitely a moment I won't forget."

Dowie came on in the first half replacing Mohamed Sissoko, and spoke about the historic moment, not just playing with the boys but training with them ahead of the match at the AXA Training Center.

"Brilliant to play with the likes of Steven Gerrard, and the boys have been great. As soon as I came into training last night they made me feel right at home, made me feel comfortable," Dowie continued.

"Because it was quite a daunting thing, to be honest, stepping out there today as the only female."

It didn't take long for the forward to get back up to speed, though, and maybe go in a little recklessly as she crunched into Claude Makelele, sending the Chelsea man down and limping as he got up. Dowie immediately went over with hands up, checking on the opponent and explaining it was unintentional, which probably saved her from a red card and maybe earned a little more respect.

"What about my first tackle? I thought I was going to get a red card straight away – a striker's tackle, that!" Dowie exclaimed.

Liverpool would win the match 2-0 after a Peter Crouch brace, and the results of the fundraising efforts will be revealed in due time.
