Liverpool are set to be big players in the summer transfer window, with the Reds ready to leave their footprint in the market.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is already closing in on a move to Real Madrid, which could already open the door for Liverpool to spend big on a new right-back, with the Anfield side expected to make five new additions in the off-season.

With Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk’s futures at Liverpool also unresolved, plenty of work needs to be done before the window even opens, with the Reds also currently narrowing down their list of targets to move for when the market begins.

And Juventus are now hoping that Liverpool can play a part in sparking a bidding with the likes of Manchester City for one of their players.

Juventus hoping Liverpool make approach for Andrea Cambiaso

According to the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport [26/03: pg 7], Juventus are hopeful that a bidding war can break out this summer for Andrea Cambiaso, with Liverpool one of the clubs eyeing the right-back alongside Pep Guardiola’s City and Bayern Munich.

Liverpool have been linked with Cambiaso in recent days with the £50m-rated Italy international expected to leave the Serie A giants this summer, with Juventus set for another rebuild having sacked Thiago Motta earlier this week.

Whilst Jeremie Frimpong appears to be Liverpool’s main target to replace Alexander-Arnold, Cambiaso has seemingly emerged as a real option for the Reds, with the 25-year-old one of Juventus’ most consistent performers in the last three seasons.

And with Juventus backing Liverpool to spark a bidding war of sorts for Cambiaso, a move could be made by the Reds for the versatile fullback, even if the Italian does not exactly suit the profile Arne Slot’s side should be looking at.

What other right-backs are Liverpool interested in signing?

With a new right-back needed this summer at Anfield, it’s perhaps no real surprise that Cambiaso has been linked with Liverpool given Juventus’ need to sell a top player to balance the books in the transfer window.

Yet the Italian defender is not the only name the Reds have been linked with, with Liverpool also believed to be interested in Givairo Read, who this season has enjoyed a breakout season at Slot’s former club, Feyenooord.

With Steve McManaman also tipping Conor Bradley to succeed at Liverpool if the defender is promoted to first-choice, there are options out there for the Merseyside giants to consider when seeking a replacement for Alexander-Arnold.
