Jarell Quansah Promoted to Senior England Team for Greece and Ireland

An injury to Jarrad Branthwaite sees the Liverpool centre half belatedly called up to join the senior national team.
Jarell Quansah's 2023-24 season was such a standout, with the young defender breaking into the Liverpool first team and eventually making 33 total appearances, that it can be easy sometimes to forget that the Scouse centre half is still just 21 years of age.
That he has found himself behind Ibrahima Konaté as first choice to partner with Virgil van Dijk at the club level has to be viewed through that lens—even if the fact he's made just four appearances so far in 2024-25 apparently hasn't knocked him out of the England picture.
That's where the latest Quansah news is to be found, with the player having been called on to depart the U21 camp this week to join the senior men's national team following an injury to centre half Jarrad Branthwaite that left interim coach Lee Carsley short on options.
"It's a great opportunity for Jarell," Carsley said ahead of thier Thursday night Nations League game against Greece, which Quansah will be expected to make the bench for. The youngster will also be involved next Tuesday against the Republic of Ireland.
Carsley, who will see Thomas Tuchel take over his current role as England's next full time manager in the new year, has seen nine players withdraw from his squad this week due to various knocks, which could lead to some creative lineups in their next two games.
