Mohamed Salah has been in the form of his life this season at Liverpool.

The Egyptian superstar is firing the Reds to Premier League glory as the Merseyside club currently sit top of the English top flight with a healthy 12-point lead over Arsenal.

Liverpool would be third in the table with just Salah’s goal contributions alone, which shows the impact he has had on Arne Slot’s first season at Anfield, resulting in the likes of Theo Walcott calling for the winger to win the Ballon d’Or.

Daniel Sturridge recently admitted that the Liverpool dressing room had doubts about Salah when he first joined the Merseyside club and they did not expect him to be what he is at present.

That was also clear when Jordan Henderson spoke about the winger after his debut for the Reds, with the former Liverpool captain describing traits still seen in the 32-year-old today.

Jordan Henderson’s reaction to Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool debut

Liverpool signed Salah during the summer of 2017 from Roma and the winger would make his Reds debut on the first day of the 2017/18 season away at Watford.

Coming off the back of a positive pre-season, the Egyptian scored on his debut in a crazy 3-3 game and that was a sign of things to come as the winger went on to score 44 goals throughout the remainder of the campaign.

Henderson was full of praise for Salah after witnessing his debut for the Reds and the English midfielder scarily named traits he saw in the winger that day which the 32-year-old still has.

“Brilliant. He’s been brilliant since he came in pre-season,” Henderson told Sky Sports about Salah. “He’s shown what he is all about scoring goals, linking up with the forward men and doing his defensive duties as well, so he was fantastic again today and deserves man of the match.”

Salah has only got better since that day in Watford as experience has taught the Egyptian superstar to be more aware of his teammates’ games.

There is a conversation to be had as to whether Salah is Liverpool’s greatest ever player and by the end of the current season, that may be decided.

Is Mohamed Salah Liverpool’s greatest player?

Steven Gerrard and Kenny Daglish are considered by many Liverpool fans as the two best players to ever play for the Merseyside club.

Jamie Carragher believes Salah will surpass Gerrard for that title if the Egyptian superstar wins the Ballon d’Or or another PFA Players' Player of the Year award this year.

That would be an outstanding achievement for Salah, who has already won every trophy possible with Liverpool and currently sits third on the list of the Reds’ all-time leading goalscorers with 243 strikes.

Mohamed Salah’s stats in each Liverpool season

Heading into this season, many would not have considered Salah as Liverpool’s greatest-ever player, but not many have produced a campaign like the 32-year-old is currently experiencing.

Salah is out of contract at Anfield this summer and should he fail to sign a new one, that could swing the debate back in Gerrard’s favour.

If the winger remains, the former Liverpool captain could be in trouble, as the superstar will be determined to grab that title away from the Reds legend over the coming years.
