Liverpool Women head south to face Tottenham on Sunday.

The season hasn't started well for Liverpool Women. Back to back draws against Leicester and West Ham have seen them gain two points out of six, and a loss to Manchester United in the League Cup only added insult to injury. While they have another chance, as football goes, this upcoming weekend when they head south to face Tottenham, there are still some considerable issues facing the Reds.

Namely, a number of injuries that are effecting Matt Beard's selection process.

"We've got a couple that we'll assess by tomorrow. We lose Zara [Shaw] and Eva Spencer, so we've only got one fit goalkeeper going into the weekend," Beard told the press on Friday.

"We've tried everything to get an emergency loan but they're obviously going to the U17 World Cup.

"We've got a couple we need to assess tomorrow, so the squad will be stretched this weekend."

While the complete list of who is suffering what injuries is unclear, this isn't exactly a new development. A preseason match against Manchester United was canceled just a short time ago because of a spate of injuries within the squad. Rachael Laws appears to be the aforementioned "one fit goalkeeper" as Faye Kirby is still in rehab following her ACL injury last season and Teagan Micah is mentioned as returning soon.

"There's just no-one available. The Champions League teams have submitted their list, and I think if a goalkeeper goes out on loan and then plays, they can't play in that tournament," the manager explained.

"We've been trying to do it. Teagan [Micah] is probably going to be back in next week, but it's just unfortunate we've not been able to do it."

The club website posted his full press conference for free, which you can view here. Liverpool Women face Tottenham on Sunday at 2:15pm BST.
