Mohamed Salah has been Liverpool’s best player this season, which makes reported in interest from Al-Hilal that extra bit worrying for the Reds.

The Saudi Arabian giants are the latest club to come in for the Egyptian international, with Al-Hilal interested in making Salah their new franchise player with the future of Neymar now up in the air having returned from a year-long ACL injury.

With Al-Hilal’s manager Jorge Jesus even admitting that Salah could be in the Saudi Pro League next season, there’s once again a growing sense of worry that the Liverpool winger could be heading to the Middle East if his contract is not resolved soon.

And Neymar himself might have just handed Liverpool their biggest problem yet in trying to keep hold of Salah.

Neymar set to leave Al-Hilal this January for Santos return

According to Globo, Santos are in negotiations to bring Neymar back to his boyhood club on a six-month loan deal, a transfer that will see the Brazilian superstar leave Al-Hilal this January and become a free-agent later this summer.

As a result, Al-Hilal will have free reign to sign whoever they want at the end of this season to replace Neymar, with all eyes expected to be on Salah, especially if Liverpool continue to drag out contract talks with the winger.

With Robbie Fowler theorising that Salah has already signed a new Liverpool contract, though, interest from the likes of Al-Hilal could currently be all for nothing if the Reds have made the ultimate power play and penned their star player to a new deal in secret.

However, with no official word coming out of Liverpool yet on what has happened with Salah’s contract, Al-Hilal will remain optimistic about signing the 32-year-old attacker, who could be swayed to move to Saudi Arabia some two years after almost making the switch.

Liverpool know what must be done to stop interest in Salah

With PSG also interested in signing Salah in 2025, Liverpool are facing a race against the clock to secure their star winger’s future and to end transfer speculation once and for all surrounding one of their greatest players ever.

And Liverpool know exactly what must be done to stop interest in Salah, that being to announce the winger’s new contract as soon as possible and to send out a defiant message that the 32-year-old will spend the final best years of his legendary career on Merseyside.

Indeed, Liverpool know they need to stop ongoing speculation on Salah’s future sooner rather than later, and the longer this saga continues, the more frustrated supporters will grow on what’s actually happening with the Anfield no. 11 and if he’s staying or not beyond this season.
