The future of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool remains up in the air as replacements continue to be linked with a move to Anfield.
The Egyptian superstar is out of contract with the Reds at the end of the season and with no concrete update on a new deal being agreed upon, Salah continues to be linked with Saudi Arabian clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Saudi Pro League attempted to sign the winger during the summer of 2023 and have continued to monitor his situation at Liverpool ever since.
The feeling around Anfield is that Liverpool expect Salah to stay next season, however, fans of the Reds will be uneasy until pen is put to paper on a new deal for the winger.
The Merseyside club have been doing their due diligence in keeping an eye out for potential replacements for the 32-year-old and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is a name of their list.
Liverpool have ‘no chance’ of signing Bryan Mbeumo admits Thomas Frank
Bryan Mbeumo has been linked to Liverpool for several weeks as the Brentford star continues to impress for the Bees throughout the 2024/25 campaign.
The Reds are not the only club keeping an eye on the 25-year-old’s situation in West London as the winger is out of contract at the Gtech Community Stadium in 2026, which makes the 2025 summer transfer window the ideal time to sell the Cameroon international.
Brentford want £60m for Mbeumo from Liverpool and his other suitors, however, there is ‘no chance’ the forward leaves in January according to his manager.
When asked by talkSPORT about the chances of Mbeumo leaving Brentford in January, Thomas Frank simply replied with “no”. "It's very easy to answer… no chance,” the Bees boss would go on to say about his star man’s situation.
How Bryan Mbeumo compares to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah
The desired outcome for every Liverpool fan is that Salah signs a new deal with the Merseyside club as the Egyptian star has been in sensational form throughout the current campaign.
Mbeumo has also performed at a very high level for Brentford this season and it is somewhat unfair to compare the stats of the Cameroonian talent to Salah as the Egyptian captain has better players around him and plays in a more attacking team.
Player Name | Games | Goals | Assists |
Bryan Mbeumo | 21 | 13 | 3 |
Mohamed Salah | 20 | 18 | 13 |
Nevertheless, should Mbeumo make the switch to Liverpool this summer, it would be interesting to see if the 25-year-old comes close to producing the numbers of Salah having joined a stronger team.
That is a very hard task to replicate and whoever takes over from the Egyptian superstar will likely fail, as speculation over the 32-year-old’s future continues to rumble on.
