'One or two exceptions': Arne Slot suggests he wasn't totally happy with one Liverpool player against Leicester

Liverpool enjoyed a good Boxing Day on Thursday, picking up a 3-1 win over Leicester City.
The Reds knew they could move seven points clear at the top of the Premier League after Chelsea lost against Fulham earlier in the day.
And despite falling behind to an early Jordan Ayew goal, Liverpool roared back to take all three points at Anfield.
It was not all perfect from the Reds, with Andy Robertson being criticised for some poor defending once again.
But after the early setback, Liverpool came back brightly. Three goals and a big Premier League win.
However, although Arne Slot was pleased on the whole with what he saw from his side, he did highlight Trent Alexander-Arnold as a player who could perhaps have done a little better.
Arne Slot suggests Trent Alexander-Arnold improvement
Alexander-Arnold has had a bit of an up and down time of things under Slot.
Although the 26-year-old has been sensational at times, he has also not quite been at it at others.
Thursday was one of those nights once more. While some of Trent’s passing in the first-half was terrific, he couldn’t beat the first man with his corners.
Of course, given his contract situation at the moment, Alexander-Arnold is under the spotlight more than ever right now.
And although Slot treated another question about contracts with a straight bat while speaking post-game to Amazon Prime Sport, the Liverpool head coach did suggest that he was not totally happy with his right-back.
“Trent had for most parts a really good game, but with one or two exceptions,” said Slot. “But especially second-half he was really good.”
Liverpool need more from Alexander-Arnold
It is interesting that Slot seems keen to highlight Alexander-Arnold after matches.
This is not the first time that the Dutch coach has singled the full-back out as someone who could have done a little more.
Perhaps it’s just because Slot knows the heights that Alexander-Arnold can hit, but he’s right to call him out.
On his day, Trent is one of the most lethal assets in world football. But we maybe haven’t seen that quite enough this season.
Given his current situation, Slot’s words are likely to be scrutinised. However, we think he’s fair enough to ask for more from his No.66.
