Liverpool manager Arne Slot is set to have a major decision on his hands next season deciding his captain at Anfield.

Virgil van Dijk is the current Liverpool captain, but his contract is set to expire at the end of the current season.

Vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold is in the same situation at Anfield, meaning Slot needs two new players to fill those gaps.

Alexis Mac Allister could be a future Liverpool captain, with the Argentine midfielder proving himself to be a key player under Slot.

Moreover, he has been added to the Liverpool leadership group, which consists of Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah.

Conor Bradley shows potential as future Liverpool captain

But another name could soon be added to that list, with young right-back Conor Bradley well ahead of his time.

Bradley is currently deputy to Alexander-Arnold at right-back, but Slot has constantly turned to the former when giving the latter a break.

That is certainly not the case on the international stage, however, with Bradley having just captained his country for the first time.

Aged just 21, the talented defender wore the armband for the 0-0 Nations League draw with Belarus on Saturday.

Along with his captaincy, the Liverpool ace produced another top display for his country, with Bradley scoring early on before his goal was disallowed for offside.

He led his nation to a hard-fought point on the road, with the defender likely to keep the armband for Tuesday's home meeting with Bulgaria.

Bradley was labelled 'quality' by Isaac Price ahead of the clash with Belarus, with the former Everton midfielder really enjoying his connection with the Liverpool man.

The right-back should now be full of confidence ahead of his return to club action, with Bradley certain to keep pushing Alexander-Arnold for regular minutes on the pitch.

And if he continues on his current trajectory, there is nothing to stop Bradley from becoming a key leader for the Reds in the near future.

Alexander-Arnold has proven himself to be the main man under Slot, but the need for rotation in the coming weeks will give Bradley plenty of opportunities to shine.
