Report: £10m Liverpool player could be fit to face Southampton in unexpected boost for Arne Slot

Liverpool are back to the day job this weekend as they take on relegation threatened Southampton and there could be an unexpected injury boost for the Reds.
With a number of players playing on international duty, Liverpool fans and Arne Slot have been eagerly looking on in case any injuries come to light.
So far, it seems like the Reds are out of the woods, albeit Virgil van Dijk has been sent back from Netherlands duty.
However, in what will be a further boost for Slot ahead of the clash with the Saints, out of favour Federico Chiesa could be available for selection.
Federico Chiesa could be fit for Liverpool v Southampton
The Italian has yet to play more than 90 minutes since signing for the Reds and it has to be said that he’s been a disappointment so far.
Indeed, there are claims Chiesa could be on his way to Inter Milan in January.
However, for now, Chiesa remains a Liverpool player and he’s got a month or so to impress and prove he can be a hit at Anfield.
And according to The Independent, Chiesa could be back in time to face Southampton this week after appearing to overcome some fitness issues over the international break.
With players coming off of long trips away, Slot could well opt to give Chiesa his chance against a struggling Saints side.
Chiesa has to show he belongs at Liverpool
While we all know it can be hard to settle at times in a new country and injuries don’t help, Federico Chiesa is too good a player to not be showing at least a small bit of quality.
Liverpool are thought to have been building Chiesa’s fitness amid concerns he is unhappy at the club already.
But while the club will obviously support their man, there has to be a point where the player himself delivers.
Getting a start against lowly Southampton could well be the opportunity Chiesa needs and if he is picked, then he simply has to grab his chance with both hands.
